Service Agreement with Interpreter Val for VIRTUAL INTERPRETING SERVICES This service agreement is for English / Sign Language interpreting services with Interpreter Val. Terms and conditions for the mutual benefit of both parties are as follows:
Term: The term of this agreement shall be for the duration of the assignment as requested.
Independent Contractor: It is understood that Interpreter Val, the contracted sign language interpreter, is not an employee and therefore is not subject to other job duties as assigned. Interpreter Val will act as a sole proprietor and provide services as such. Interpreter Val will need to coordinate with the appropriate stakeholders, and/or clients prior to the service date. Interpreter Val may request any breaks or resources needed for effective communication may be additionally requested before or during the time of service delivery.
Credentials: Interpreter Val, the contracted sign language interpreter, guarantees to have valid certification and is qualified to provide services. Additional clearance or badging required to be on-site in order to provide services as requested, are the responsibility of the hiring entity to provide.
Compensation: Payment for services rendered are expected to be paid in full within 30 days of the date invoiced. An additional 10% fee will be added every 7 days following those 30 days until full payment is received.
Materials: Interpreter Val, the contracted interpreter shall be provided with the necessary materials for requested assignment. This could be, but is not limited to, names of persons involved, meeting notes, media (ex. power points), documents, location information, VIRTUAL PLATFORM MEETING LINK(S), other language(s) also to be used during the assignment. Interpreter Val will provide the use of her own equipment, in a secure and confidential space. Parties are to be aware that Interpreter Val does not have an IT team and technical difficulties will be resolved as best as possible within the limits of the assignment setup and time constraints. Interpreter Val is not to be held liable for technical issues beyond her control.
Code of Ethics: Interpreter Val, the contracted interpreter will adhere to a Code of Professional Conduct as outlined by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and the State of Michigan, interpreter division. It is understood that the hiring entity will provide a safe work environment mutually respectful of professional conduct.
Modification: Any negotiated modifications to this service agreement must be agreed upon by both parties and such changes need to be included within the body of this service agreement, or attached email communication. Rates: Monday – Friday, 7am – 7pm, Regular Business Hours $150 initial show fee for services up to 2 hours $75/hour every hour following the 2 hour show fee
Monday – Friday, 7pm – 7am, After Business Hours $200 initial show fee for services up to 2 hours $100/hour every hour following the 2 hour show fee
Weekends, Holidays, High Risk, Legal, Short Notice (less than 24 hour notice) $200 initial show fee for services up to 2 hours $100/hour every hour following the 2 hour show fee
Additional Fees: An additional set-up fee may be charged based on the complexity of the assignment. This fee includes prep time to review materials, download necessary software to comply with the virtual meeting platform being used, and or other technical meetings prior to the assignment in-order to provide effective service delivery. This fee will be charged at 1/2 the regular hourly rate.
Team(s): Requests involving, but not limited to, complex content, or virtual platforms that are complex in nature to navigate effective service delivery, situations lasting for an extended length of time, may be subject to a team(s) of interpreters. This will be discussed and agreed upon by both parties prior to the date of the assignment.
